Jaylen Brown Mistakenly Believes Deli Employees Would Recognize Him During Hometown Tour

During an episode of Celtics All-Access , Jaylen Brown took Kristaps Porzingis on a tour of his old neighborhood out in Atlanta. During a stop at "American Deli," things got awkward when the employees failed to recognize one of their old customers.

"Yo my people... what's up baby," said Jaylen. "You good? You don't remember me? This is my man's right here!"

The whole segment was pretty short, but it's not hard to understand why Brown dipped out of there quickly. Whether those workers were new or they really just forgot about Jaylen, the whole thing made quite a show for the fans, and thousands of social media users went on to share the viral exchange.

While Jaylen may have grown up in the greater Atlanta area, he hasn't lived there for some time. After being drafted 3rd overall in 2016, he's been with the Celtics and has served as the main co-star behind Jayson Tatum.

Brown has been involved in a number of trade rumors, including as recently as this season, but he's endured them all to keep his place on the Celtics. The truth is, despite the kind of haul he could bring back, the Cs consider Brown to be irreplaceable as one of the top two-way wings in the entire NBA.

With a whopping $285 million owed over the next five seasons, Jaylen Brown's future is already secured with the Celtics and there's no reason to think he won't finish out his career with the franchise. But after multiple failed playoff runs, the pressure is on this team (more specifically Brown and Tatum) to deliver when it matters most and finally get over the hump to bring the championship back to Boston.

The story is still ongoing this season, but a failed campaign in these playoffs could have drastic complications on their future and what kind of moves we can expect this summer.

Jaylen Brown Wants To Prove The Doubters Wrong

After signing his big extension with the Celtics, many fans challenged the notion that Jaylen Brown was a max player. Despite his impressive track record with Jayson Tatum, critics pointed to Jaylen's lack of ball-handling skills as a major flaw in their system.

During high-stakes moments in the playoffs, Jaylen has disappeared before and left his team in the dust when they needed him the most. Of course, he's also come through for them in some major ways including a 40-point performance in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals in 2022.

This year, after averaging 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game on 49.9% shooting, Jaylen again entered the playoffs as one of the league's top 20 best players. So far, he and Tatum have managed to back up their impressive regular season with a solid showing all around, leading the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals with only two losses in the books.

If those deli employees don't recognize him now, they certainly will soon if the Celtics can manage to have another breakthrough and take care of business against whoever comes out of this ongoing series. If they can win the championship, it will put Jaylen's name in the history books forever and finally stick it to the haters once and for all.
